General knowledge on Lighting

┬ùThe letter ÔÇ£TÔÇØ is used in front of the number to show that fluorescent bulb is a tube.
—Following the letter is a number which represent the diameter of the bulb measured in fraction of an inch.

(X/8) x 1 inch

T8 = (8/8) x 1 inch = 1 inch

Power Factor (PF)

  1. When the power factor is 1, all the energy supplied by the source is consumed by the load.
  2. if the power factor is <1, they have to supply more current to the user for a given amount of power use.
  3. The higher currents increase the energy lost in the distribution system.
  4. Low Power Factor would cause power system losses in your electrical system.
  5. Such losses can be reduced or minimized by improving the power factor.
  6. With the current rise in the cost of energy, improvement on facility efficiency is essential.
